CEO Message

  •

Electronics and IT industries reached USD 100 billion of exports in 2005 and then USD 220 billion in 2021, the peak in history despite various economic crises. As such, Korea has become one of the top three exporters of electronics worldwide.

Electronic technologies have impact on every sector of industries and are now regarded as a key to digital transformation. All of these great achievements are a fruit of tireless dedication and efforts even under challenging global conditions such as COVID-19 pandemic.

Recently, however, our electronics and IT industries are facing unprecedented serious challenges in the global supply chains owing to the extended pandemic of COVID-19 and geopolitical crises, inflation pressure due to soaring oil and raw material prices on a global scale, and other factors of economic slowdown.

In the face of such crises, KEA is strengthening its monitoring and response system to address major regulatory issues and playing its role as a leader in creating new industry sectors and job opportunities in order for the continued growth of electronics and IT industries. Particularly in this era of digital transformation where convergence between industries has gained momentum, KEA will provide support for efficient reorganization in electronic industries. It will also establish a co-prosperity foundation for small, medium, and large enterprises so that they can respond promptly to global crises regarding supply chains, serving as the ‘platform’ for a sound cooperative ecosystem for new industries.

Finally, KEA will play its role faithfully as a partner and ‘messenger’ for industrial innovation in close communication with member companies so that their opinions and concerns are reflected in policy making.

For all such activities and efforts to bear a fruit, all concerned in electronics and IT industries are warmly invited to participate actively and show keen interests.

Jong-Hee, Han

Chairman of the Korea Electronics Association
